My Ultimate Gardening Checklist for the Glam Girl: From SPF to Shovels

We’ve already established numerous times why every glam girl should be gardening. From giving you a free therapy session to nurturing your feminine energy — there’s so much that working outside can do for you. But, what do you need to get started? Obviously, a small green corner, plants, soil, but what else? Especially if you’re not an ordinary gardener, but a glam green thumb girly? I’m here to help you! Here’s the ultimate gardening checklist for the glam girl.

SPF = Your BFF

First things first – let’s talk sun protection! If you’re going to spend time outside gardening — YOU HAVE TO WEAR SUNSCREEN. And I don’t mean just a few dots on your face, you should be wearing it on the rest of your body as well. Don’t get me wrong, I love getting my daily dose of vitamin D from the sun as well. However, when we’re gardening, we’re not just spending 15-20 minutes outside. Often it can go on for hours! This means that your skin needs an extra layer of protection against harmful UV rays. So make sure you’re applying SPF 50 before you go outside. Ideally, you should also reapply it every couple of hours. This will not only keep you wrinkle-free but also prevent more serious conditions such as skin cancer.

Stylish Gardening Gloves

Next up, let’s talk gloves. If you’re a true glam girl at heart, chances are that your nails are always done. So, we’ll have to ensure that they are protected. And what better way to do that than with a pair of stylish, statement-making gardening gloves? They will keep your hands protected while adding a touch of glamour to your gardening ensemble. Look for gloves with a snug fit, reinforced fingertips, and a breathable, moisture-wicking fabric for maximum comfort and control. And hey, why not opt for a pair in a bold color or fun pattern? Pink, floral print, or leopard? You can look glamorous and cute, no matter what you may be doing.

High-Quality Tools

No glam garden is complete without a fabulous collection of high-quality gardening tools. From shovels and trowels to pruners and shears, having the right tools on hand can make all the difference in your gardening experience. Invest in durable, ergonomic tools with comfortable grips and sharp blades for effortless digging, planting, and pruning. Honestly, there are so many options available nowadays that it would be almost a shame to just pick up a set of tools in a solid and dark color. From pretty pastels to gorgeous patterns, you’ll instantly feel a lot more motivated to get to work once you look at them.

Hydration & Snacks

The last one might be a bit obvious, but I still want to mention it as I think it’s super important. Once you go outside to do some gardening, please make sure that you have refreshments and snacks nearby. Gardening is a form of exercise, and staying hydrated and nourished is key to keeping your energy levels up. Either bring your Stanley cup and a couple of granola bars with you outside, or keep a portable mini fridge around with water, juice, and healthy snacks such as fresh fruits and nuts. Of course, you can even snack on the fruits from your own garden, or infuse your water with home-grown herbs.
