DIY Scalp Serum Ideas for Gorgeous Hair: From Black Cumin to Rosemary

I absolutely love talking about scalp care, because taking care of my scalp has singlehandedly transformed my hair. But a lot of people still neglect the “soil” of their hair. To prove to you how easy and affordable it can be to do that, I’ve prepared some DIY scalp serum recipes that tackle concerns from dandruff to hair loss. So, let’s get started right away, shall we?

Rosemary & Peppermint Infusion

Of course, I have to start with one of my absolute favorites — a rosemary and peppermint DIY scalp serum. Of course, this is totally inspired by the iconic Mielle hair oil, just a more affordable version of it. Which adds up if you use it on your whole scalp a couple of times a week. Start with a base of jojoba oil – it’s lightweight, non-greasy, and mimics the natural oils produced by your scalp. Add a few drops of rosemary essential oil to stimulate circulation and encourage hair growth, then throw in some peppermint essential oil for a refreshing tingle and to combat dandruff.

Black Cumin Revival

Black cumin oil is such an underrated oil, especially when it comes to hair care. This dark, earthy oil is packed with antioxidants and nutrients that nourish and rejuvenate the soil of our hair — the scalp. Of course, I wouldn’t advise you to rub pure cumin oil on your scalp. You can combine it with almond oil for added moisture and a little bit of coconut oil. They will make great carrier oils, and they also add extra conditioning and an antioxidant boost. Feel free to also add this mixture to the lengths of your hair right before wash day.

Oil Cocktail For Faster & Stronger Growth

If you’re looking to supercharge your hair growth and strengthen your strands, then this potent oil cocktail is what you need! Castor oil is the star of the show here. It’s incredibly rich in nutrients and fatty acids that promote healthy hair growth. However, castor oil is way too thick to use on its own. So make sure to mix it with olive oil for added moisture and shine, then add a few drops of rosemary essential oil to stimulate circulation and encourage new hair growth. Massage it to your scalp a few hours before washing it. But please don’t leave it on for an extended period of time, as it can clog the pores on your scalp.

Dandruff Savior

If your main scalp concern is dandruff, then this is the DIY scalp serum that you should give a try. Jojoba oil is the perfect base for this serum, as it helps to balance oil production and moisturize the scalp without leaving it feeling greasy. Add a few drops of tea tree oil for its powerful antifungal properties, and throw in some peppermint oil for a refreshing tingle and to soothe any itchiness. Massage this calming blend into your scalp and let it work its wonders. It’s honestly one of the best natural dandruff remedies out there.
